Kwesi Arthur Accuses Ground Up Chale of Unlawful Financial Demands, Ownership Claims Over His Music
Ghanaian rapper Kwesi Arthur has levelled serious allegations against his former record label, Ground Up Chale, and its Chief Executive Officer, Glen Boateng, accusing them of making unlawful financial demands and falsely asserting ownership over his creative assets.
According to the award-winning artiste, the label and its CEO have demanded a payment of US$150,000 while continuing to lay claim to his image and musical works, despite what he says has been no professional or contractual relationship between the parties since the Son of Jacob album era.
Kwesi Arthur further alleges that he has not received any financial benefits from his music catalogue and has been subjected to repeated threats amid the ongoing dispute. In a strongly worded public statement, the rapper warned that any harm that comes to him should be held against Glen Boateng and Ground Up Chale, as the controversy continues to attract widespread public attention.
